M'hamid – where the road ends and the adventure starts
M’hamid and the area around - mainly populated by saharwi nomads - is the entrance to Sahara, Morocco.
In many ways you can feel that the time has stopped, but the developement is coming to this areas too. The road came to M’hamid 10 years ago, electricity 8 years ago – and the autumn 2005 the village was connected to the rest of the world through internet. But – for a traveller from the develped world the daily life can seems like going back to another century.
The people living in Mhamid is tolerant and hospitable - and live close to and with the nature . And not at least – the habitants are proud people !
This village is the centre for Zbartravel - and our company is lucky to cooperate with local nomads as guides. People who know Sahara and the area around – and not at least their own culture.
In this way the travellers will have a great adventure - and hopefully give something back to the local people. |
